Why quantum resistance matters
Quantum computing could create new risks for traditional cryptographic systems over time. The signatures that protect most blockchains today (ECDSA) were standardised long before quantum computers were a practical concern, and the security world — led by NIST's post-quantum standardisation effort — has already selected replacement algorithms such as CRYSTALS-Kyber. There is also the "harvest now, decrypt later" concern: data recorded today could be attacked by future machines.
